Faster Access to a Psychiatrist
Waiting months for a psychiatrist is hard when you're the one struggling. Our team takes part in a collaborative care program that can connect you with an OHIP-covered psychiatrist, usually within 3 to 6 weeks.

When Therapy Isn't the Whole Answer
Sometimes you need more than one kind of help. Maybe a medication question has been sitting with you for months. Maybe you want to understand what's going on, and a diagnosis would help.
In Ontario, seeing a psychiatrist usually means a family doctor's referral and a wait of six to twelve months. That's a long time to hold on. So our team works with Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Collaboration, an independent Canadian program that brings your therapist, your family doctor and a psychiatrist together around your care.

Does This Sound Familiar?
A psychiatric consultation may help if:
- You've been on a psychiatry waitlist for months, with no date in sight
- You're wondering whether medication could help, or whether yours still fits
- You'd like a clearer picture of what you're living with, and a diagnosis might give it
- Therapy is helping, but something still feels stuck
- You want your therapist and your doctor working from the same page
How It Works
Five steps, and you're never doing them alone.
-
Start with a free consultation
Tell us you're interested in seeing a psychiatrist. If you already see a therapist on our team, ask them for a referral. Either way, you'll be connected with the therapist on our team who takes part in the program.
-
Meet for 3 sessions
Your therapist gets to know your story first. This is what lets them speak for you clearly when the psychiatrist joins.
-
Your doctor sends the referral
We give you the program's referral form. Your family doctor or nurse practitioner completes it and sends it in.
-
Meet the psychiatrist, with your therapist beside you
Usually within 3 to 6 weeks of the referral. The consultation runs about 90 minutes, and the psychiatrist joins by secure video. You can be with your therapist at our Burlington office, or online from home.
-
Keep going, with a fuller plan
The psychiatrist shares recommendations, which may include a diagnosis, tests, or medication. Your family doctor is kept in the loop, and your therapy continues with that plan in hand.
What You'll Need, and What It Costs

Our therapists provide psychotherapy. They don't diagnose or prescribe. The psychiatrist is a medical doctor who can help with diagnosis and recommend medication and other treatment. Your family doctor stays at the centre of your medical care.
Psychotherapy Matters Virtual Collaboration is independent from Graceway Wellness. We take part because it helps our clients get the right care sooner.
