About Kimberly
"It takes a lot of courage to start therapy. I am honoured to be joining you as you navigate this journey."
Kimberly brings more than a decade of frontline social work to her therapy practice: women's shelters, on-scene victim crisis response alongside police, and court support for victims of crime. That background shaped a therapist who is steady, deeply compassionate, and unafraid of heavy things.
Her focus is trauma in all its forms, acute, chronic, complex, and vicarious, along with the anxiety, depression, grief, and burnout that so often travel with it. Clients say working with her feels like talking with a trusted friend: relaxed, safe, and never judged.
Who she works with:
- Adults (18+) carrying trauma, whether from a single event, a long season, childhood, or the weight of witnessing others' pain
- Anyone stuck in anxiety, low mood, or burnout that won't lift on its own
- People grieving a loss who need steady, unhurried company through it
- Clients who want practical tools they can use between sessions, not just talk
Faith Integration
Kimberly is an avid Bible student, and for clients who want it she brings Scripture and prayer directly into the work. How faith shows up in session is planned together and directed by you, always your choice. Fully secular therapy is equally welcome, and your beliefs are met with respect either way.
What Working Together Feels Like
Working with Kimberly feels like chatting with a dear friend you can relax with. She brings genuine warmth, maturity, life experience, and a great sense of humour. She's adept at knowing when to tread softly and when it's time for a gentle challenge, and she likes to bring creativity into the work.
She listens intently first. Then she helps you name the patterns keeping you stuck and sends you home with a toolbox of practical skills to practise day to day.
Homework is decided together, and it always serves one question: is what we're doing actually helping? If an approach isn't working for you, you'll find one together that does.
What You'll Gain
Over your first several sessions, clients often begin to notice:
Training & Approach
- Master of Social Work, Wilfrid Laurier University (2012)
- Honours Bachelor of Social Work, York University (2011)
- Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Somatic and attachment-based practices
- Solution-Focused and Narrative Therapy
- Expressive Art and Mindfulness Therapy
- Exposure Therapy
Kimberly refers out where a different level of care is the better fit, including addictions treatment and situations involving domestic violence with active safety concerns. Honest scope is part of good care.
My Approach
Kimberly helps by listening intently and clarifying what's concerning you. Together you'll identify the patterns you've been living with and the places you feel stuck. Then she equips you with practical skills, drawn from trauma-focused, cognitive, somatic, and creative approaches, that you practise between sessions until they're yours.
What Sessions Look Like
- → A longer first session focused on understanding you: your story, your relationships, and what you see as your strengths
- → 50-minute sessions after that, at a rhythm that fits your life
- → Practical between-session practices, chosen together, that show you both whether the work is working
Kimberly sees clients in person in Burlington on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with virtual sessions available across Ontario.
Common Questions
What is a Registered Social Worker, and will my insurance cover it?
Kimberly is a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, providing psychotherapy. Her receipts claim under the social worker benefit line, and here's the good news: some extended health plans cover social workers even when they don't cover psychotherapists. Check your plan for "social worker (MSW/RSW)" coverage, and we're happy to help you sort out what your benefits include.
Do I have to be a Christian to work with Kimberly?
Not at all. Faith only enters the work when you want it to, and how it shows up is planned together, at your direction. Fully secular therapy is equally welcome, and your beliefs are met with respect either way.
I've been through something I've never talked about. Is that okay?
Yes. Trauma is Kimberly's specialty, and she has spent her career alongside people in their hardest moments. There's no pressure to share more than you're ready to. You set the pace, and she'll meet you exactly where you are.
What does the first session look like?
The first session is about getting to know you: what's going on now, the relationships that matter to you, and what you see as your strengths (her favourite question). From there you'll shape a plan together for the sessions ahead.
Does Kimberly assign homework?
Together, you'll decide on small weekly practices that show whether the work is helping. If something isn't useful, that's important information too, and you'll adjust the approach together.
