Women's Mental Health Isn't a Subset of General Therapy

Anxiety in women often looks like over-functioning, not panic. Depression can show up as exhaustion, irritability, or quietly checking out, long before it looks like sadness. Grief shows up layered, because women are often holding several losses at once, a parent's decline, a friend's diagnosis, a version of themselves they thought they'd still recognise.

Add to that the invisible load. The mental list no one else is keeping. The birthdays, the forms, the emotional temperature of the household, the appointments, the groceries, the ask from work, the text that has not been answered. It is real labour, and it does not get named as labour.

Women's therapy isn't a softer version of regular therapy. It's clinically informed work that understands how gender, role, and relationship shape what you're carrying, and what healing actually asks of you.

Common Patterns Women Bring to Therapy

The Invisible Load

Running the mental logistics for a household, a workplace, a family, often all three. The tiredness underneath the competence.

Identity Outside the Role

Figuring out who you are when you are not being someone's partner, mother, daughter, manager, or the person who keeps everyone else steady.

Perinatal and Postpartum

Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and early motherhood. Anxiety, low mood, intrusive thoughts, and the gap between what you expected to feel and what you actually feel.

Perimenopause and Midlife Shifts

Mood changes, sleep disruption, a sense of not recognising yourself. We collaborate with your physician when a medical review is part of the picture.

Layered Caregiving Grief

Caring for an aging parent while raising children, while working, while quietly losing pieces of the life you used to have. Grief that does not have a funeral.

Relational Weight

A marriage that feels lonelier than being alone, friendships in transition, adult daughters and aging mothers. Sorting what you owe, and what is actually yours to carry.

Our Approach

Our team draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to understand what is happening underneath the overwhelm, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to work with the thought patterns that keep you stuck in over-functioning, self-criticism, or low mood.

For women whose struggles trace back to earlier relationships or experiences, we use attachment-based and trauma-informed approaches, paced to what feels manageable. You stay in charge of what gets opened and when.

This isn't about becoming a better-performing version of yourself. It's about getting underneath the performance, figuring out what actually needs tending to, and building something steadier.
